Consulting Descriptions

INTEGRITY… COMMITMENT… IMAGINATION… TEAMWORK…TALENT

Our consultants work closely together on small teams and are often engaged on more than one project at a time. Our Associates and Senior Associates are primarily responsible for the research and analysis in a project; our Managers lead project teams and manage client relationships, while Principals and Partners determine strategic direction, develop new business and manage client relationships. From Associate to Partner, all are hands-on in the daily work of a project and it is not uncommon for Associates to be the lead consultant on a project and for Partners to be engaged in project analysis:

What is a typical day at Carlisle & Company? The usual answer is “it depends” but here is an idea of what to expect:

  • Proposal development and writing
  • Gathering and analyzing data from clients to understand current state or trends/patterns
  • Conduct industry and market research through reports, focus groups, or dealer visits
  • Business model creation and testing
  • Presentation development, preparation, and facilitation
  • Meetings with client executives and management
  • Communications with internal Carlisle team and clients – email, phone calls, and meetings

A career at Carlisle & Company is largely what you make of it; we have no “up or out” policy. Associates usually stay for 3-5 years before leaving to join an MBA program. We are proud to help our consultants get admitted to some of the top MBA programs in the US. People who join us post-MBA are interested in a small firm where opportunities for promotion can happen more quickly than in a much larger firm. If you are comfortable with ambiguity and on the job training, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and have the willingness to travel, learn more about the responsibilities and criteria for our specific positions:

“Having worked at Carlisle for 3 years, one of the most striking aspects of my experience is the range of experiences I’ve had. While it is true that the firm is deeply focused on the motor vehicle industry, people don’t realize how enormous, complex, dynamic, and people driven the industry actually is. I have worked with almost every major company in the auto industry, on projects as different as developing a new go to market strategy for a parts organization, designing an entirely new inventory strategy for accessory products, and analyzing market entry strategies for a company with fast growing vehicle sales, just to name a few. The clients that we work with are tough and smart, and every new project means adapting to a new situation, tackling a new challenge, and learning about a bunch of things I had no idea even existed. Working at Carlisle has given me the tools and experience to excel in business school, as well as the confidence and professionalism to excel at whatever challenge I decide to take on in future.”
